I am never alarmed anymore when entire days or evenings seem surreal and dreamlike. I just write it down so that I have a hope, later on, of separating reality from surreality in my memory.
I was leaving school tonight at 7:30. It was still light out, and warm (it had been in the high 20s today). I was not surprised to hear bagpipes coming from one of the lecture halls, as SFU's pipe band is well-known, award-winning, and often practices in the evening. However, I wassurprised to walk past first one small group then another of junior-highschool-aged youths playing pipes and military drums. Turns out there is a junior pipes and drums competition going on. I cannot explain to you the cacaphony of ten bagpipe bands practicing at once. I have no idea how they each held their own unique rhythm, but I can tell you that I have never been so relieved to see the bus come!
At the same time, while waiting for the bus, I was entertained by a little creative grafitti. Official Translink sign: Drivers, do not use the busloop at Production Way. Please reroute along Lougheed until further notice. Pencilled in: (Approx. 11 years)
